Despite objections from neighbours and the town council, Caradon's planners were due yesterday, Thursday, evening to reconsider granting permission for the erection of a bungalow in a garden at Pengelly. The previous application for the site, adjoining an existing bungalow known as Brendon, had been refused in June last year on the grounds that it would have constituted a cramped and congested form of development, harmful to the amenities of neighbours. The current application has resulted in a reduction in the width of the proposed building, changes to the roof and the addition of a rear extension. Parking provision has been moved to the site of an existing garage and has, the committee was told, been reduced overall. The town council objected saying the bungalow would be out of keeping with the area and the existing drainage system was already overloaded. Nine neighbours lodged objections on similar grounds. But planning officials were recommending approval.
