BRUNEL actor Malcolm Down has spent a busy month taking part in engagements in Saltash to commemorate Brunel 200. Last Friday morning he completed his last engagement at Brunel CP School presenting chocolate eggs to the children who had won the painting competition. The paintings had been displayed at Ashtorre Rock, Waterside, during the celebrations and members of the public had voted for their favourites. Brunel was accompanied by Mrs Sophie Brunel (Mrs Lynne Marsh) and Miss Brunel (Ms Wendy Taylor) in Victorian costume. They were welcomed by Maureen Fuller who had organised the competition with Ashtorre. Peter Roberts, headteacher, thanked the visitors for attending. Children who had taken part in the painting competition received chocolate cream eggs after the morning assembly.
