The New Labour Government promised us education, education, education. But it's spending less on education than the Tories did.

It promised us a better health service, but the promised pay increases to hospital doctors have not been paid, and the promised reduction in the excessive hours worked by many junior hospital doctors has been postponed.

The Government promised farmers an increase in payments for the expensive process of converting to organic production. This conversion is in the national interest for the health of the people to cut the huge bill for imported organic produce. At present we import more than 80 percent of the organic food we consume. Our own farms could meet most of this demand. That would mean fresher organic food for us, a healthier balance of payments for the nation and more and better jobs in agriculture. But now the Government has stopped these payments.

Promises, promises, promises. Broken ones.
