TAMAR bridge users are set to pay £1.80 as of next summer.

The 20% toll increase has been approved by Cornwall Council, and is likely to get the go ahead from Plymouth City Councillors on Monday.

The rise will affect Tamar Tag drivers as well as those who pay in cash.

The cost of crossing the Tamar bridge last went up in 2010 from £1 to £1.50. Any price rise has to be signed off by central government before it can take effect.
