Liskeard short mat bowls club's team of Pete Field, Dorothy Woodyatt, Chris Cope and skip Paul Cummins recently scored a rare hot shot.

A hot shot means the team scored a maximum of all eight shots on one end - and the club has never seen or played in a game before when this has happened.

The score helped them to go on and win their game against a team from St Germans by 24 shots to three.

The club has also won the Altarnun autumn shield again for the third year running, and will be attending a presentation evening at Altarnun tonight (March 3).

The club is currently progressing well in the East Area league, and maintaining its position in the middle, despite several tough matches.

It is looking to increase membership and will be holding an open evening on March 9 at Morley Tamblyn Lodge, Liskeard, beginning at 7.30pm.

This is open to everyone. Anyone wishing more details should telephone 01579 342765, or just turn up on the night.

January club night winners were Sheila Hodge, Edna Cope and Doris Hargreaves, and the February bowls drive winner was Joyce Hamer.
