The biggest fleet of the season at Looe Sailing Club was greeted by warm sunshine and a perfect south westerly breeze for sailing in Looe Bay.

In the competitive Mirror class, Matt and Daisy Jaycock stuck to their winning formula to record another convincing win, but had to keep looking over their shoulder for the ever-improving team Bowdler, Brian and daughter Esther.

Jack Spree and Amber Palfrey were a class act to take third, and could pose a threat to the big guns in the future.

Also joining the Mirror fleet and completing the course were ex-Redwing supremo Des Hocking and daughter Florence – much to the delight of his many aging supporters at the sailing point.

Another sight to behold was the return to the fleet of club-owned Redwing No.149 Penguin, helmed by Murray Winterton and crewed by Peter King who, with the aid of a bucket and sponge, managed to complete the course.

Redwings: 1, Shytalk (Ben and John Crabb); 2, Seagull (Colin Crabb and Richard Ham); 3, Chough (Geoff Godbolt and Marlene Dietrich).

Enterprises: 1, Flashback (Francis and Enid Marshall); 2, The Shed (Robert and Bianca Libby); 3, Dreckly (Steve Sargent and Callum Dingle).

Mirrors: 1, Thing One (Matt and Daisy Jaycock); 2, Total Eclipse (Brian and Esther Bowdler); 3, Kerfuffle (Jack Spree and Amber Palfrey).

Lasers: 1, Mud Honey (Rob Dewe) – the only one to finish.
