A number of walkers joined Liskeard town councillors for the annual and ancient tradition of ‘Beating The Bounds,’ the term used to check that the stones which mark the parish boundaries are in place.
The new mayor, Jane Pascoe, sportingly underwent the ‘bumping of the mayor’ on the first milestone near Morrisons roundabout, after which most of the day was spent walking around the parish.
Maudlin, Bodgara Mill, Hendra Bridge, Craddock Ford and Tremabe Bridge were all visited, with a stop at Treworgey Manor for lunch, and finally onto Looe Mills before finishing at Lodge Hill.
At the boundary stone which marks the meeting point of Liskeard and Menheniot parishes, the mayor, deputy mayor Christina Whitty, and the town clerk Steve Vinson, were met by Cornwall Councillor for Menheniot, Phil Seeva, and the parish clerk John Hesketh.
