HONEY fair organisers in Callington are hoping that a new free park and ride service will bring more people than ever to the event.

The fair, set to take place on October 4, will be extended into the evening this year.

More family-orientated entertainment has been arranged by the Lions Club, including displays of reptiles, raptors and owls, and animals to pet, and a large marquee will be in place to host live music.

This year, a park and ride service will be provided from the St Mellion International Resort, making it easy for those coming from the Saltash and Plymouth direction to get into Callington town centre for the event.

‘St Mellion have been fantastic in sponsoring the event to enable all-weather parking, which is an amazing offer,’ said Callington Lion Jamie Dowdall.

‘This will enable even more people to visit without the hassle of finding parking once the large field we normally use is full.’

The park and ride service will run between 10am and 6pm on the day of the fair.

The Honey Fair dates back to the 13th century. The popular street fair traditionally includes a honey competition and displays of live bees, children’s art and traders’ window contests, stalls, street entertainment and a fairground.
