After last week's impressive win over Godolphin, Lanreath had to recapture their good form as they faced a respectable Newmoor side.
Both the weather and the pitch gave the opportunity for the match to be played in perfect conditions and the performance lived up to its expectations. The only thing missing in the first 40 minutes of the game was a goal as Lanreath didn't quite take advantage of some instrumental moves in the final third.
However, constant pressure eventually paid off as the stubborn Newmoor defence finally crumbled and Jim Moynan got the final time to put the home side in front at the interval.
Some positive attitude team talk from Lanreath's boss man Tim Johns at half-time helped to keep the players focused and determined. Although they struck the woodwork three times in the first half, they were still only a goal ahead. This score line did not stick around for long though as John Tapper knocked the ball down into Jim Moynans path who struck a sweet half volley into the top corner to bag the best goal of the game.
With a two goal cushion, Lanreath perhaps say back a bit too much as Newmoor responded with a brilliant move to stretch the home sides defence with the ball clattering agonisingly against the cross-bar. This was probably enough to shake the Lanreath players back into line as they responded with another goal to complete Jim Moynans hat-trick.
Soon after Matt Julian helped to complete the fourth goal after rounding a defender and striking the ball into the danger zone where an unfortunate defender could only help the ball past his stranded goal keeper.
Many of the team played well including Paul Haddock, who was invincible in the air, Matt Barton, who was creative up front, and, of course, Jim Moynan, who recorded his impressive hat-trick.
