In a Premier semi-final second leg that Callington needed to win they started in great fashion. After only five minutes, Gregory unleashed a fierce volley from 20 yards which was brilliantly saved by the visitors keeper. Boscastle came to defend a 2-1 advantage from the first leg and defended very deep in their half which made it difficult for Callington to break them down. It was all one way traffic in the first period, with Truscott and Brooks both going close.
The second period started in the same manner as the first with Callington pressing forward at every opportunity, leaving Boscastle to break every now and then. The best chance of the game fell to Martin with only the advancing keeper to beat but he screwed his shot wide, With time running out Callington continued to dig deep and with five minutes to go, Nicholls popped up to score from four yards.
No more than the side had deserved as they had taken the game to Boscastle all afternoon. Manager Paul Blatchford said that with the bare 11 players we had today, they really worked their socks off and played for each other deserving everything that they get this seaso. Callington now look forward to what should be a great final against local rivals Dobwalls.
