Sooner or later, it was going to happen to one of Callington's opponents. For three weeks they have been made to pay for missed chances but in 40 second half minutes at Duchy College on Saturday, they finally began to find the target and ensured an eventually comfortable victory to get Town back on to winning ways.

Playing against the wind and into the sun in the first half Callington failed to settle down and went behind on five minutes when Batten fired past Paul Fletcher in the Town goal.

Callington huffed and puffed against the elements and created good chances through Darren Barford. Stuart Taylor, Martin Nicholls, Chris Gerry and Trefor Griffith but failed to really test the Nanpean keeper as his side went in one up at the break.

With the elements Callington launched wave of attacks in the second half before on the hour Nicholls raced clear and brilliantly chipped the keeper for the equaliser.

Nanpean made rare forays forward but met the solid defence of Simon Hunt, a rejuvenated Adam Reid and Gordon Moxham and could not find a way through except on two occasions but on each one Fletcher was equal to all that was thrown at them.

Griffith, who had had a quiet game up until the equaliser, showed his skill as he set up more chances along with Steve Brooks and Dean Martin. With 20 minutes left, Griffith fed taylor and the youngster hit the target to put Town ahead. He struck again to make it 3-1 and then Nicholls grabbed the fourth and sub Jason Gregory in fifth.
