The first leg between last year's finalists produced an enthralling encounter for the large crowd that turned out to watch. The home side were unable to field a full strength squad because of sickness and suspension.

With a couple of players having to play out of their normal position they knew that they couldn't afford any errors against the current league leaders with both sides giving each other very little time to play the ball.

The game was a hard slog early on, but once things settled down the game started to flow with both teams playing attractive football. Simon Fisher came agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock with a powerful header only to see the goal-bound ball brilliantly saved by the 'keeper. The same player hit the post just before the break to add to the teams frustration.

Dobwalls came out for the second period in a positive mood and laid seige to the visitors goal for long spells. Robin Cole, who was skipper for the game, broke the deadlock after 70 minutes when he fired home from close range after a goalmouth scramble. Two minutes later they were two up with Johnny Niblett scoring from the penalty spot after Dave Cliffe had been upended in the box.

With Biscovey having to push forward Dobwalls caught them on the break and should have punished them severely, however they squandered a number of chances and only a solo effort by Martin Polatch was converted to make it three when he ran from just inside the visitors half and rounded the keeper to score. Right on the stroke of full time Gary Barnard gave Biscovey a lifeline with a headed goal from a set piece.

This was an excellent team performance from Dobwalls who deserved their victory on the day. A number of players shone on the day and every player must have been in with a shout for the Man of the Match award, which was eventually won by Johnny Niblett, playing his first full game since Christmas due to a lengthy spell of sickness.

The match was sponsored by Jefferys Estate Agents and the matchball by the Highwayman at Dobwalls.
