After losing away in the league to St Columb a few weeks ago, this match was always going to be a hard fought contest. Polperro, however, went into the task with great gusto, and pressured the opposition right from the start.

Sustained pressure led to Jason Richardson opening the account, running through to beat the advancing keeper. This was seen followed by an amazing goal. Stuart Fisher from just on the half way line lobbed the ball over the top of the whole St Columb team and ran through himself to collect the ball and round the keeper to put Polperro 2-0 up. It was Ryan Teddars turn to get on the score sheet, and from a perfect cross, he headed the ball into St Columb's net for a 3-0 score line.

With Polperro still pressing 'Workhouse' Andy Garner with a flash of brilliance, scored with a 25 yarder which the goalkeeper did not move for. Four-nil at half time was a fitting scoreline, for a very good all round display.

However, St Columb were not going to lie down, and came back in the second half with the Polperro team living on their laurels of the first half, and going to sleep. It was inevitable that St Columb would score and they did. Ian Hipwell ran through to beat Paul Hudson in the Polperro goal, and lift St Columb into really putting pressure on Polperro.

However, a break away by the home team led to Jason 'Jugganaut' Richardson smashing the ball into the roof of the net so fiercely it nearly broke the back of the net.

Still St Columb came back, and another Ian Hipwell goal made the final score 5-2. This will make the second leg very interesting. Polperro will have to show total commitment for 90 minutes if they are to advance to the final.
