Following a sequence of 10 victories and two draws it proved unlucky 13 for Gunnislake as they suffered their first Division Two defeat of the current league campaign.

The visitors created some good opportunities early on in this match and were unlucky not to open the scoring when Andy Southcott struck an effort against the upright.

On 15 minutes Gunnislake took the lead when Neil Kinger hit an excellent low drive into the corner of the goal from fully 20 yards. Shortly afterwards, following a surging run by Ken Ord, Lee Underwood struck an equally good shot from identical distance into the top corner.

St Anns reduced the arrears with a well worked goal right on the stroke of half-time and then levelled matters early in the second period.

The second half saw Gunnislake produced their by far worst 45 minutes of this season although credit to their hosts whom performed better in all areas. Just as it looked as though Gunnislake would hold out for a point St Anns popped in a winner five minutes from time.

Gunnislake will look to bounce back this weekend when they play two fixtures. Saturday sees them travel to third in the table Padstow whilst they have a tough Bedford Cup quarter final match on Sunday morning when St Stephens Borough provide the opposition.
