Pelynt got off to a winning start on Saturday in a closely fought and entertaining match in Division Two.

The home side started the better, showing good movement and passing, which was to continue throughout but it was an error from the Queens goalkeeper that presented Pelynt with their opener, the goalie threw theball out but it was intercepted by Trevor Wisker who slotted home.

Queens capitalised on some disorganisation in the Pelynt ranks to grab an equaliser against the run of play but Pelynt were quickly ahead when Robbie Petrie, having just missed a sitter, steered home after Paul Boxall's shot was parried.

However Pelynt were pegged back again when Queens equalised for a second time and still there was 15 minutes of the first half remaining. Pelynt were further hampered by enforced substitutions, first Ollie Whitling had to go off and after five minutes on the pitch, his replacement was also injured and replaced by Jonathan Pickering. Pelynt still had time to go in ahead at half time when Petrie converted a right wing cross from Wisker.

The second period was not so frenetic but unbelievably, Pickering picked up an injury and Pelynt's final substitution was made, bringing Norman Thomas into the action.

Pelynt seemed able to control proceedings without ever being able to kill the game off until Boxall played a delightful one-two with Petrie and crashed the ball in from 25 yards. Thomas was denied by a smart save and Boxall headed just wide but Pelynt had to survive a late scare when Simon Hall's challenge resulted in a penalty from which Phil Hearnden was given no chance. Pelynt deservedly hung on and hope to build on this result when they entertain Foxhole tomorrow (Sat).
