Playing their first competitive fixture of the current campaign newly promoted Gunnislake produced an impressive performance. The visitors started brightly but Gunnislake soon took control and on 10 minutes Paul Tomkins came close following a Joe Pulley centre.

Midway through the half the home side took the lead when Tomkins scored. The goal came when the impressive Neil Kinger won the ball for Mark Yeoman to play in Tomkins who finished well. By the interval Gunnislake had doubled their advantage with a powerfully struck shot by Andy Campbell.

Gunnislake scored their third from the penalty spot when following good work by Pullay and Andy Wakam, Campbell was fouled. Kinger converted the resultant spotkick.

The scoring was completed when a good run by Len Smale created the opportunity for Pulley to strike home.

A good start for a Gunnislake side which included four of a number of summer signings - namely Andy Woodward, Chris Adams, Andy Wakam and Mark Yeoman - although the squad still has a familiar look to the one which in the last two years has achieved back to back promotions.
