On 10 minutes Gunnislake came close to opening the scoring when an Andy Southcott centre was headed against the cross bar by Paul Tomkins. This set the tone for a first half in which the hosts were the better side.
Midway through the half Tomkins ran on to an accurate Neil Kinger pass but failed to find the target shortly afterwards Wayne Thialmann was only inches from scoring when he just failed to reach a Joe Pulley centre.
The scoring was not broken until two minutes into the second half. Southcott played in Thialmann who forced the ball to Lee Underwood, who found the target with a well-struck shot hit from the edge of the penalty area.
The visitors then had their best spell of the match and for 20 minutes they did all the attacking. In this period they equalised.
The remainder of this match saw proceedings swing from end to end as these two promotion chasing sides each searched for an all important winning goal.
No sooner had Gunnislake cleared from a goalmouth scramble their player manager Southcott produced a good run and struck but without success.
Later on Gunnislake nearly snatched the victory but for the second time of the afternoon Tomkins was denied by the woodwork.
