Saints ground out another win completing the double over Bugle, on a day more conducive to staying by the fireside than braving the strong wind and low temperature on a bleak football pitch on the edge of Bodmin Moor.

With a couple of absentees but still a full squad to pick from, the pack was shuffled slightly from that which kept a clean sheet last week. But nevertheless the squad pulled together as normal to put more pressure on their fellow hopefuls in by taking another three points.

Starting off against the wind St Cleer struggled to overcome the difficult conditions in the first half, although with the exception of one great save from Duffey, they never seemed to be in any great danger, reducing the visitors to long range efforts. Saints had their own chances but found the Bugle last line of defence in competent form, without having to perform heroics as the conditions took their toll of any inventive football in the visitors half.

Coming out in the second half with renewed vigour, the home side stuck relentlessly to their task and Duffey was reduced to a virtual spectator having to run around his area to keep warm and involved as the majority of the play took place in the last third of the pitch, without troubling the scoreboard. However a double substitution and change of tactics, produced the breakthrough when Reynolds headed on and Collins pressured the Bugle defence into a mistake when a defender in an attempt to clear the ball scored spectacularly past his own keeper.

Soon afterwards the points were wrapped up when good work between Shepherd and Marchant resulted in Marchant firing the ball home to make it 2-0 halfway through the second half. St Cleer continued to pressurise the Bugle defence but could not trouble the score sheet further and eventually ran out winners. A workman-like display by Saints on all areas of the pitch with every aspect contributing to the result; keeper, defence, midfield and attack while proving once again that with a full squad Saints are a strong enough outfit to trouble any side.
