St Stephens Borough's away fixtures ended with a defeat on the pitch built into the mountainside at St Breward.

Borough elected to play up the hill in the first half, and immediately went on the offensive. In doing so they maintained the reputation they have deservedly earnt this season of being the most offensive side in the league.

St Breward weathered the early Borough pressure and began to cause problems for the Borough defence with their pacey strikers.

As the half neared its conclusion St Breward made the important breakthrough and went in at half-time a goal ahead.

Borough had the advantage of playing down hill for the second period and again put the home side under sustained pressure.

The equaliser came from the left foot of the Karl Meiken. He made a quick break down the hill, found he couldn't stop and was fortunately in the right place to knock the ball past a startled home goalkeeper.

With maximum points needed for Borough to have any chance of third place in the division they were then caught by a classic sucker punch as the home side broke through to score the winner with only 15 minutes remaining.

Borough can justifiably claim that they deserved a draw as the sides were evenly matched throughout and they did hit the woodwork three times and had several efforts cleared off the line.

Still, it was not to be and Borough returned to Saltash pointless.

Whilst promotion now seems beyond them, this has been a good season for the Saltash based side and one they can look back on with pride.
