This game was decided over the last ten minutes of the first half. A doubtful refereeing decision, an unlucky bounce, followed by a slow response, allowed the home side to go in at the break 2-0 in front, when before that it only seemed a matter of time before Saints' stranglehold on the game was to be reflected in the score line

Saints had gradually weathered an early storm, before settling down into some good pass and move football and even though Godolphin came close on occasions when playing with the slope and the wind, St Cleer pushed them back. Roberts pulled off a great save, pushing a shot over the wall when it seem destined to find the back of the net.

The interpretation of the offside law again came to the fore, when a break through on the left only for the play to be brought back when another player was deemed to be interfering with play on the right.

From the resulting free kick Godophin moved the ball up field and a shot on target bounced in front of the keeper only to rebound off his chest into the path of the player following up, for a sirnple tap in. Shaken by these events Saints failed to gain their composure before the home side went further in front when a long range shot through a group of players ended up nestled inside Robert's left hand post

The second half saw Saints gradually gain the upper hand and Collins came close on two occasions. Roberts at the other end pulled off a second good save, when he pushed a ball over the bar. With 20 minutes to go Harvey shot through a crowded penalty area to put Saints on the score sheet, but try as they may, an equaliser eluded them and at the final whistle the question 'How' was again being asked. After having 80% of the play the visitors did not deserve to go home empty handed, but with due respect to the hosts they defended well which made it very frustrating for the visitors.
