The new Millennium began in disastrous fashion for Pensilva when they were thrashed at Mevagissey in their first Division One game for over a month.

After surviving a couple of early scares, the home side began to take control of the game and they scored twice to make the score two nil. Tony Rogers pulled a goal back for Pensilva to give them hope of a recovery but this was soon dashed by two more goals which made the half time score four one.

The second half was a similar tale of woe with Mevagissey adding a further three goals while all Pensilva could manage was a consolation from Dave Hicks. This was a terrible result but it was all they deserved after such a poor performance.
