Callington raced into a 3-0 lead in the first 15 minutes. An own goal set them on their way and then M Reid scored a spectacular goal hooking in from outside the penalty area. K Ruck kept his feet when heavily tackled and had a cool head to steer the ball past the advancing keeper. Steady defending by Callington kept the eager running Veryan midfield at bay. Veryan pulled a goal back just before half-time to set up an interesting second half. Veryan got their second and for a 10 minute period had Callington defending desperately.
Callington won it in the last five minutes when Reid's header was handled on the line. The culprit was sent off and Callington scored from the spot kick to send them into the quarter-final for the first time.
