Both sides came out of this game with a lot of credit as they served up a very entertaining game and proved that 0-0 matches don't have to be boring. Understandably both defences were on top but Callington generally were the more likely to score. However, Stan Stewart, Callington's keeper who was not tested in the first half came to his sides rescue with a couple of important saves when Callington were caught on the break. North Hill's 'keeper was the busiest thanks largely to the midfield domination of Matt Reid and Adam Burgoyne who never let North Hill have the ball. Keiron Ruck was a constant threat up front and on another day would have had a couple of goals. Tim May on the comeback trail after injury was an inspiration to Callingtons young team.
Good quality corners from Reid and Ruck created chances but without the height in the box they just could not be converted.
The closest Callington cam to scoring was from Darren Wooley who from a direct free kick just inside the North Hill half and with the win giving some assistance, his shot just clipped the cross bar and bounced clear.
North Hill were presented with an opportunity to win the game when they were awarded a free kick on the edge of Callington's penalty area when Wooley was penalised for a foul when he had clearly won the ball before any contact with the opposition was made. From the free kick Callington held firm a good clearance was made. A quality game from this division and the result about right.
