Polperro's first half attacking performance should have seen them three or four goals up by the interval. They repeatedly laid siege to the Chillaton goal area with shots hitting the woodwork, goalkeeper and defenders, in fact everything except the back of the net.
In contrast their opponents were making full use of their young, whippet-like strikers to attack on the break and get behind Polperro's more mature but rather static back four.
Their tactics paid off after 15 minutes when a ball over the top of the defence found 'keeper Shane Eastley firmly rooted to his goal line and easily beaten by a simple header. The home side increased their lead against the run of play shortly before half time.
Polperro let themselves down with a second half display which lacked character and commitment and it was no surprise that they conceded two further goals and scored none. For Polperro, only Del Palfrey left his mark at Chillaton giving everything he had inside him.
