The Royal Navy's revelation it is cutting back on the number of trainees it recruits from April is likely to have a big impact on Torpoint.

The town council was informed of the changes in a letter sent by Captain Steve Murdoch, the commanding officer at HMS Raleigh, the navy's main initial training establishment.

The letter which states the service needs to recruit less people 'for the next year at least' comes as a blow to the town.
