Geoff Lingard (Mor-wenstow) knocked in a break of 97 on his way to victory over Mike Burnard (Camelford) in the first round of this year's Cornwall billiards championship.
Dave Clue (Menheniot) made an unfinished 83 break as he went through 500-379 against Robert Bader (Bude Golf Club). Reigning champion Dave White (Bude) was in consistent form , defeating Phil Davey (Playing Place) 500-146 with the help of two breaks of 73 and two others over 50.
Last year's losing finalist Derek White (Menheniot) was beaten 500-368 by Noel Meagor (Playing Place), while Keith Olver (Hessenford) went out to Charlie Gay (Redruth) 500-386.
Chris Mitchell went through to the next round thanks to a win over Dobwalls club-mate Alan Snell.
