Fifty-nine breaks of more than 40 were recorded by the 18 players taking part in this year's Cornish Masters billiards tournament at Grants Snooker Club, St Austell.

Winner was Robert Marshall (Exeter) who knocked in three century breaks, including one of 135, the highest of the day, as well as three other breaks of over 90.

In the final he defeated Dave White (Bude) 310-151, with runs of 53, 79 and 83. White, who in the earlier rounds had knocked in breaks of 90, 85 and 70, made an unfinished 68.

Winners and runners-up of four round-robin groups went through to the quarter-finals, with results as follows: Bill Andress (Devon) beat John O'Neil 275 (breaks 50, 60)-185; Robert Marshall (Exeter) beat Peter Bottono (Truro) 401 (97, 99, 112) – 58; Graham Ward beat Geoff Lingard (Morwenstowe) 230-150; Dave White (Bude) beat Chris Mitchell (Dobwalls) 244-204.

Semi-finals: Marshall beat Andress 281(63)-154; White beat Ward 227(50)-187.
