The big freeze may be over, but the battle to fill huge holes in roads across South East Cornwall has only just begun. Cornwall Council is carrying out emergency repairs on roads around the county, which could cost taxpayers more than £5m.

In Liskeard, the combination of snow, ice and freezing temperatures has caused major damage, particularly in the Addington area.

Roads have also been badly affected in Looe, where mayor Michael Joy says there is a serious problem.

'There are several potholes around Looe that were bad before the icy weather, but now they're even worse,' he said.

'The roads have been particularly bad since the freeze and I don't think Cornwall Council is really doing enough to sort it out.'
