Drivers are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys in Devon this afternoon following an incident on the M5 between junction 31 and 30 near Exeter.

Lane one northbound has been closed after a lorry broke down and spilled diesel on to the carriageway at 10.47am.

The incident has had an impact on both the A30 and A38 with delays of up to an hour on the A30 eastbound and 70 minutes on the A38 eastbound.

Highways England is advising drivers to allow extra time and plan their journeys while work is ongoing to recover the vehicle, treat the carriageway and reopen lane 1 of the M5.
