Traffic wardens are unable to issue parking tickets to people parking in taxi ranks because they have not been legally adopted by the council, writes Richard Whitehouse, local democracy reporter.

Cornwall Council is now looking to formally adopt the taxi ranks in East Cornwall so that its enforcement team can do its job.

The council’s miscellaneous licensing committee will consider the change when it meets this week.

It will cover Hackney carriage ranks in Callington, Liskeard, Looe, Saltash, Torpoint, Bude, Launceston, Bodmin and Wadebridge.
