PEOPLE without an NHS dentist in Torpoint could be in luck after the Primary Care Trust announced plans for a new full-time surgery to be opened in the town. Torpoint currently has a dental service that works out of a portakabin at Carbeile Primary School two days a week. However, the new facility will be located in the council offices nearby. It will have improved disabled access and the aim is to recruit a full-time dentist to increase care. 'We remain committed to improving NHS dentistry,' said Adrian Tyas, director of Primary Care Support Agency. 'The commissioning date for the surgery is expected to be in April and we are currently advertising nationally for a new dentist for this facility. Our existing work will continue until the switchover.'
