In a ceremony at County Hall in Truro, hosted by the chairman Ann Kerridge, Cornwall’s Lord Lieutenant Colonel Edward Bolitho presented medals to those who were awarded the BEM in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, in front of their family and friends.
They included Mr Graham Jane BEM from Fowey, who received his award for services to the community in Fowey.
Graham has served on the committee of the Fowey Royal Regatta for more than 25 years and has overseen its growth from a sailing event into a week-long festival promoting the town and substantially boosting the local economy.
He plays a key role in the organisation of the regatta, fund-raising and bringing together the complex parts that fit together.
The Lord Lieutenant spoke of his admiration for those receiving the award saying: ’Honours are not easily won and all the recipients have given selfless service to their communities.
’I was delighted to be able to present the recipients with their medals in recognition of the extraordinary impact each of them has had on their communities.’
