BEEKEEPERS in the Saltash area have been doing their bit for the health and wellbeing of their community.

It’s claimed that honey is good for many reasons, not least because it is a source of antioxidants.

Locally produced honey can also be of benefit to people suffering from allergies or breathing difficulties.

With a wealth of experience in this natural product, and with beekeeping in the family for more than a hundred years, the team from Price’s Honey and Wax decided to get their honey and honey-related products to where they might be needed.

The company has two small apiaries which are run as a hobby business, and which are isolated from the public.

Conscious of the current safety rules around Covid-19, the beekeepers wear face masks under their bee suits if needed.

The honey produced is only available in small quantities in order not to deplete the bees’ supplies.

Left--over soaps have also been given away to vulnerable people, as honey and wax have natural antibacterial aspects.

‘It has all been given out contact free, ’ said Honey and Wax.

’A time was nominated to whoever contacted me requesting a soap, the same with honey. They would then arrange with a loved one or themselves for when they would go for their daily exercise, the product was placed on our doorstep a few minutes before their allotted time, and they would bank transfer or put money in an envelope through the door for honey.

‘We just wanted to help our locals in some small way, and this was all we could offer but hope it has helped.’
