MY husband and I come to Looe and Polperro (from Prestwich, Manchester) twice a year and always buy the Cornish Times while here.

The letter of the week last week was about the state of East Looe Beach and I agree wholeheartedly with the comments.

However, we are more disappointed with the state of the Polperro Harbour area. The rubbish that was around when we came at Easter is still there.

It all seems to relate to the fishermen. Just past the Three Pilchards Inn is what looks like piles of rotting carpets. By the telephone kiosk on the harbour there are dumpy bags and opposite them is a blue skip filled with rubbish.

We used to be able to sit on wooden beams over the beach – now old nets block them. And no longer can we walk to the end of the harbour because boxes block the way.

What was once a beautiful place has turned into a rubbish tip. How disappointed we are! Come on, Polperro, tidy up.
