Campaigners celebrated a ‘Dump-Free Whitsand Bay’ with a bonfire and music on Tregonhawke beach.

Tonny Steenhagen and his wife Deb Hoskin have been at the forefront of recent efforts to halt the dumping of silt dredged from Devonport Dockyard at a site off Rame Head.

The couple were joined by friends and supporters as they marked an end to the campaigning.

A new, alternative site was designated by the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) earlier this year.

Money left over from an appeal to mount a second judicial review has been passed to the Rame Peninsula Beach Care group.
