Brunel Ladies, a Saltash based barbershop chorus, are a small, enthusiastic, successful group of ladies who enjoy entertaining audiences in the South West by singing in four-part harmony.

In November, we will again be entering the Ladies' Association of British Barbershop Singers' annual convention to be held in Harrogate.

We are very proud at present to hold the 'Phoenix Small Chorus Award', presented to us by the association in Brighton, in 1998, for the best small chorus in competition. Obviously, we are all very keen to bring this trophy back to Cornwall in 1999.

We are required to sing two songs, one ballad and one up-tempo number - the latter being that well-known Marilyn Monroe song 'Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend.' This is where we require your help.

We are desperately in need of some diamond 'paste' type jewellery, such as rings, bracelets, necklets, brooches or even tiaras.

Have you got any of these items tucked away in your jewellery box you would be willing to part with?

We can assure you these items will be put to very good use, not only in competition, but in future concerts here in Cornwall.

As with all clubs, societies etc., we are always looking for new members to join us.

Now the winter evenings are drawing near why not think about trying a new hobby to take you into the Millennium. You will be most welcome to join us. We meet at Burraton Community Centre, Saltash on Mondays from 7.30pm to 10.00pm.
