PEOPLE are banding together to brighten up a part of town that’s been criticised for its appearance.
The Cornish Times recently reported one resident’s criticism of the litter-strewn entrance to Lanchard Cemetery in Liskeard.
Now Cornwall and town councillor Jane Pascoe says she has secured agreement for new flower beds to be put at the entrance, with the help of Liskeard in Bloom chairman John Hesketh and horticulturalist John Crumpton. Jeff Barrett and Jim Hughes from the town council have repaired the bench.
Local residents including Lynda Fletcher have volunteered to look after the entrance and do some weeding.
‘If we can make it all look pretty then hopefully people will be less inclined to treat the area as a dump’, said Cllr Pascoe.
