The Indian Queens Half Marathon took place on Sunday with 88 runners taking part. The race is part of the Cornish Grand Prix Series.

This well-marshalled undulating course in took the runners along mainly quiet country lanes, extra water and sponge stations were laid on due to the hot weather and were much appreciated by the runners.

The winner of the race was Shaun Milford from Newquay Road Runners, who finished the course in a time of 73 minutes. Second was Eddie Richards from BAAC in 75:10, while the third man back was Steve Payne from Plymouth Harriers, with 76:20.

Jess Hoskin, from ECH, ran a well-paced race in the extreme heat and was the first lady back, finishing 20th overall, with a time of 90:14. Second lady was Jennifer Mills from Bideford in 94 minutes, while third was Lesley Richardson from Newquay Road Runners with a time of 98:26.

The male team trophy went to Newquay Road Runners and the female team trophy was presented to the East Cornwall Harriers' team consisting of Jess Hoskin, Jacky Tyler and Amanda Erith.

East Cornwall Harriers managed to pick up several veteran trophies; MV50 first place Brian Billsborough; third Mike Erith; MV60 first place Rod Andrew; Oldest male competitors, Vic McKee who, at 73, finished in 140 minutes; FV35 second place Jacky Tyler; FV45 second place Amanda Erith.
