By allowing this encounter to go ahead, the referee gave Edgcumbe the opportunity to take over at the top of Division One. This is Edgcumbe's first campaign as a Senior club, but last season's Bodmin Trophies Duchy League champions now sit proudly on top of the table on merit.
The match – the only game to beat the big freeze in Cornwall and Devon – turned out to be a good contest played in very difficult conditions. Indeed, both teams can be applauded for playing the game 'in the right way'.
The Borough went close when striker Stuart Fort headed over, although Edgcumbe had their chances.
Chris Green lost out in a one-on-one situation with Borough goalkeeper Sam Borthwick, who then made another cracking save to deny Johnny Harris, followed by another good stop to thwart Brett Shannon.
The opening goal came through the experienced Andy Wright, who drifted in from the right to let fly with his left foot with the ball finding the roof of the net.
Edgcumbe's equaliser was a controversial affair, when Brett Shannon raced clear of the home defence to score after beating the offside trap.
Shannon then saw another effort strike a post, with central defender Tom Hall heading against the underside of the crossbar and over the goal-line before bouncing back into play, but the 'goal' was not given.
