Liskeard's Sungirt Valley, a green area near the town centre, could soon be designated a Local Nature Reserve. Sungirt Valley Gateway Project, Caradon District Council and Groundwork, who joined forces to back the scheme, are organising a public meeting on Wednesday (October 13) to give local people a chance to consider the idea. The session will include a talk by Janine Street, Groundwork's Wildspace officer, about the two existing local nature reserves in South East Cornwall, at Seaton Valley and Kilminorth Woods. The benefits the reserves can bring to the community and wildlife will also be considered. The meeting, which is open to all, will be held at the Liskerrett Centre between 6.30pm and 8pm.
