Motorists will face a 400 per cent rise in parking charges after a popular residents discount scheme was scrapped by Cornwall Council.

Under the current scheme, which operates in the former Caradon and Restormel districts, card-holders can park in council-owned car parks for a discounted fee of 5p for the first hour.

Cornwall Council's Cabinet opted this week to scrap the cards from April meaning people will have to pay the standard fee of 20p for the first hour.
