ST Neot Village Festival is to be held over the August Bank Holiday weekend of Friday, August 25, to bank holiday Monday, August 28.

A concert by Loveny Choir opens proceedings on the evening of Thursday, August 24 (7pm).

The main festival attractions will be open from 10am to 5pm on the Friday, Saturday and Monday and from 12.30pm to 5pm on the Sunday, with a joint church service taking place beforehand at 11am.

There will also be a floral dance through the village taking place at 6pm on the Saturday.

The Rhythm of Life is the overall theme of this year’s event, with the floral displays based on the theme of ‘Musical Memories’.

The village’s Grade I-listed church, with world-renowned stained glass windows, will host showpieces of floral art created by individuals and groups, including a central carpet of flowers, complemented by original art works for sale.

The village hall will host locally-made refreshments from 10am-5pm daily.

Live music will feature in the church, in the attractive Community Garden and in the village, including in a Jazz Cafe. The floral dance through the village will take place from 6pm on Saturday, August 27, with St Pinnock Band playing the music.

Original crafts will be exhibited for sale in the chapel and playing field pavilion.

A market will feature stalls with plants, books, cakes and other fare to tempt browsers, together with a special exhibition on an archaeological dig which has been taking place in the area this year.

A land art trail is a new feature taking visitors to some of the special places in the village, and there will be some surprises along the way.

A duck race along the River Loveny, taking place from 1pm on Bank Holiday Monday, and a grand festival draw taking place from 7pm on the same day, will offer a range of prizes.

Fun sports and the World Smite Championship will also feature on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, depending on the weather.

There will be car parking available and for further details about the festival see Facebook stneotvillagefestival and website www.stneotvillagefestival.com
