Sunday, walked through Kilminorth Woods today, what a beautiful picture, painted by Mother Nature, her palette was full of the colours gold, orange and russet, a gallery of artistic colours. This gallery is free to everyone who enjoys the tapestry of autumn.
The beech trees, oak, cherry and ash, each with its own colourful leaves with the evergreens, holly and fir and of course rhododendrons, a masterpiece of colour.
Do you know badgers, squirrels, birds and the smaller mammals love to eat the beech nuts as they fall in the mast. I must admit the beech trees are my favourites, they win me over with their colours.
One only has to walk through Kilminorth Woods to see what I enjoy in its splendour. Now is the time for all those walks, leave all your cares behind and feel free under the canopy. You will come out the other end stress free and feel a better person for it.
Last week I gathered a few chestnuts from the forest floor, but left a few for the squirrels and little mammals. Their need is greater than mine.
