A CHARITY has given a piece of eyesight-saving medical equipment worth £25,000 to a community hospital. A League of Friends group donated a Humphrey visual field analyser to Liskeard Community Hospital last week. The machine will be used to help doctors test for sight loss by measuring the different areas of peripheral vision. The Liskeard Community Hospital's League of Friends, which has 17 committee members, were able to afford the analyser from fundraising activities and a substantial legacy left to them. Roy Illing, chairman of the Liskeard Community Hospital's League of Friends, said the new machine will allow patients in the area to be seen by a specialist on a regular basis avoiding trips to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. The League of Friends raise most of their money through a coffee bar inside the hospital and will be holding an annual fete onSaturday, July 21.
