Last week I spent a holiday in the Callington area and was given a copy of the Callington and Cornish Times, dated August 27.

On page 11, I saw the 'Picture From The Past', which brought back a few memories.

For Councillor Paton's information, it is a picture of the Callington branch of the Royal Engineers Searchlight Division T Army, which was formed in March 1939.

It included several members from the Stoke Climsland area: Cyril Doidge, Jack Davey, Ron Forbes, being old school friends of mine.

I am second from the left, top row, and other surviving members include: my brother-in-law Tom Wearing (second from left sitting on the ground); Norman Skinner (second from right also sitting on the ground), and Tom Woodward (extreme left, second row down) whose son was Supreme Commander British Forces in the Falklands War.

May I suggest that Callington Town Council should grace their Council Chambers with a copy of this picture?
