A MOTHER has been left distraught after failed attempts to get her daughter's body returned from India.
Sandra Hunter, of Wrey Avenue, Liskeard, has been left confused and frustrated after trying clarify the circumstances surrounding the death of Charlotte Anne Bending, on Sunday.
Charlotte, 24, travelled to India to marry her boyfriend, Jeetinda Singh, an Indian national.
They left the UK on August 23 and Charlotte was due to return on September 10 with her two young children, Nasrullah and Gurkorak, aged two and one, with Jeetinda due to return two weeks later after having met up with family and friends.
However, Ms Hunter has been given conflicting reports of the circumstances surrounding her daughters death and is desperate to get her and the grandchildren returned to the UK.
She said: 'We've all just been trying to support each other because it is absolutely devastating.
'The little boy (Nasrullah) needs his family around him and he doesn't know anybody out there.'
Amir Murad, the father of the oldest child, is currently serving a nine-month prison sentence for possession of a false French passport and identity card which he used to obtain work in the UK and is due to be deported upon release.
A statement from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: 'We can confirm the death of a British national in Haryana, India.
'Consular staff are in contact with the family in India and the UK and are providing consular assistance.'
