A 'Little Englander'

The latest letter from Mr Morse has let the cat out of the bag. Some of us had suspected the reason for his pathological denial of Cornwall and the Cornish as a distinct and non-English constituent of Britain.

He has now made it quite clear that his views are those of a 'Little Englander'. Never mind the Cornish, he doubtless wishes the French, or the Dutch, had never been invented.

In his peculiar personal geography, Britain is not part of Europe but an island, alone in a boundless ocean (or, more likely, just offshore from Manhattan).

At any rate an English island, with no room for inconvenient minorities. Even those here before the English arrived - from Continental Europe.
