Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the serious collision in Callington today (May 16).

At around 6.45am a black Vauxhall Astra estate was travelling along the A388 in Callington when it collided with a pedestrian near the junction of Coronation Road.

The female pedestrian, a woman in her 50s, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital by ambulance.

The road was closed while investigations took place at the scene and reopened at 11.15am.

The driver of the Astra, a man in his 20s from Callington, has been reported for driving without due care and attention.
