Police are appealing to the public following an aggravated burglary in St Austell that left a man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s in hospital.
The incident took place at around 10pm on Saturday, March 26 at a property on Carylon Road, St Austell.
Two men rang the doorbell of the property and when the owner answered two suspects forced their way into the house.
One suspect hit the male victim in the face with what is believed to be a wooden mallet, causing injury to his eye and face. This suspect then produced a cleaver and threatened the victim, demanding money.
The other suspect was at this time in the living room of the property where he was making threats towards a woman who was punched during the aggravated burglary.
Both victims were taken to hospital as a precaution and have since been released. It appears only mobile phones were stolen during the attack.
Both suspects are described as men in their late 20s to early 30s, both wearing dark clothing with the hoods up. One is described as skinny, the other as stocky.
Police are appealing for witnesses and wish to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the attack and may have witnessed anything suspicious.
