STOCK and equipment was stolen from an independent trader just a day before non-essential retail was allowed to re-open.
Nina Hills of Cornish Soapcakes in Liskeard said that the break-in had happened overnight between Saturday and Sunday (April 13 and 14).
As well as products, a cooker and scales used to produce the home-made soap was taken.
Nina said that whoever was responsible had “stolen from a small business that has struggled throughout lockdown, because it couldn’t open, and stolen from a family that works hard for the community”.
“I have been humbled and amazed by the messages of support and love I have received,” she said.
“It will probably take a bit of time to rebuild my stock, but I will be back making you all smell lovely again soon.
"To the person or persons that broke into my shop - I hope you are allergic to all my products and you get a rash!"
Anyone with information relating to the incident should contact police using reference CR /028414/21.
